Durango won a pair of exhibitions Saturday in Albuquerque, a 4-1 victory against Rio Rancho and a 7-1 victory against Bosque Preparatory.
Durango, a club team for four years, is a second-year varsity program.
John Robinette, who founded the club in 2005, led the team to a 29-11 club record, then watched as Jed Gilden coached the first-year varsity program to a 3-8 record last spring.
Robinette, who spent 13 years coaching and building the Fort Lewis College lacrosse program to national prominence, assumed head coaching duties this year and will be assisted on the bench by John Randle.
Zane Bilgrav paced the DHS attack in Albuquerque. He scored three goals and scooped four groundballs against Rio Rancho, then added a goal and an assist against Bosque Prep.
Devin Owen had two goals and an assist on the weekend.
Dane Bier and Hayden Seikman scored two goals each against Bosque Prep, and Holden Randle also scored the Demons' six-goal win in the second game of their doubleheader.
Tyler Gordon earned the win in goal both games.
Durango will open its Mountain Conference season at 4 p.m. today and 11 a.m. Saturday against Aspen, one of nine teams in the league. Both games will be played in Grand Junction.
