Death needed to fix Camino crossings?

I know it has been brought up time and time again, but it is clear that nothing is being done about the extremely hazardous crosswalks that allow pedestrians to cross Camino del Rio. I am writing this after nearly being hit by a vehicle traveling at full speed as I tried to cross at the crosswalk by Durango Fire & Rescue Authority Station 2. As I tried to settle my nerves while still quickly moving across the road, I was harassed by another driver who yelled at me to “cry about it!”

Durango quickly needs to install a safer way for everyone to use the roadway, including pedestrians. I know I am not the only one to have an incident like this, as I have seen it happen several times and read many similar complaints. It is just a matter of time before a very serious accident occurs, and as a community, we need to ensure that it doesn’t take a death to fix an issue.
