Defying yellow lines will place you at fault

Yellow lines, especially when they are double, are there to indicate crossing into a lane is illegal. Recently, I have pulled into a lane, waiting to do so until I reached an area where there was no longer a yellow line, only to find that someone behind me had pulled into that lane before reaching a legal opening – therefore almost running into me from behind. If a driver is so careless or ignorant he ignores those yellow lines, an accident will be his fault.
