Logic shows all Coloradans as pot addicts

I find it comical that people who obviously know absolutely nothing about pot are the first to comment. They make a fuss about all the negative effects that they are certain they will experience now that marijuana is legal in Colorado. Everyone knows weed is not new. It has been around for centuries, and mankind has been using it all that time. So, in light of that fact, I have to ask all the conservative prognosticating doom-sayers: Do you think no one else has been using pot all these years, and that it’s something new that people don’t have any experience with, and that as soon as they try it, they are sure to become addicted and then go on a life-long quest to indoctrinate and force all other non-consumers to partake in against their will?

Do you not realize that your neighbors and co-workers and people you conduct business with are using pot all the time and have been forever – even when it was illegal? Can you not figure that out because sane minds have decided not to ruin people’s lives for using weed? That does not mean every person, child or adult will now have to partake in this new and mysterious drug. Does it not dawn on you that adults have this thing called “free will” and that those intelligent enough to harness it do not fear going over the cliff into addiction the way you do? Do you think that the new legal pot sellers are going to suddenly start selling to kids more than old underground sellers did? Do you expect every adult older than 21 to suddenly become a pot grower now just because it’s legal – even though the profit motive is now gone?

This is all typical flawed conservative thinking. So, by my calculation, using conservatives’ paranoid logic, all of Colorado should be fully addicted to marijuana by the Fourth of July or so. So, party on Garth, John Denver would be proud.
