The back and forth between Australian brothers Jett Lawrence and Hunter Lawrence for the 2026 Motocross Championship title continued in Southwick, Massachusetts, on Saturday, with Jett once again leap frogging over Hunter to reclaim the overall points lead by one point.

On Fourth of July weekend, Hunter had surpassed Jett for points lead.

Cortez’s Eli Tomac, who has won four 450SX Motocross championships in his career, is still out because of a neck injury sustained in Round 1 of the 2026 Motocross season. There has been no update on when he will return to racing, or if he will return this season.

Moto 1 started with a hole shot from Jett Lawrence on what commentators said might be “the most unique track” on the Motocross circuit. Hunter Lawrence started barely behind his brother and attempted to take the lead away while 450 newcomer and California native Haiden Deegan raced behind in third.

As Jett Lawrence began creating a small lead on Hunter, with both riders about 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the field, he crashed, allowing Hunter to pass.

Meanwhile, Tomac’s teammate, Spaniard Jorge Prado, began putting pressure on Deegan for third place, but was passed by Belgian racer Lucas Coenen, who had worked his way through the pack. Not long later, Coenen’s bike locked up, causing him to crash and forgo the remainder of the race.

Deegan shortened Jett’s lead to 10 seconds, but couldn’t catch him before the finish.

Hunter Lawrence placed first, Jett Lawrence second and Deegan third.

“This sibling rivalry, it is legit for this championship,” commentators said at the start of Moto 2. Hunter Lawrence claimed the hole shot, with Deegan, Jett and Prado right behind him.

Jett Lawrence rode on Deegan’s heels in “attack mode” before passing and setting his sights on Hunter. They battled for the lead while navigating lappers before Hunter flipped over his handlebars, allowing Jett, Deegan and Prado to pass.

Jett Lawrence won the second race, following by Deegan in second and Prado in third. Hunter Lawrence placed fourth. Overall for the weekend, Jett Lawrence placed first, Hunter Lawrence second and Deegan third.

Round 7 of the 2026 Motocross season will be held on July 18 at Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota.
