Firefighters said it was a false alarm

About 30 children were evacuated from The Tree House Early Learning Center, 300 N. Elm St., about 11 a.m. Tuesday after a false fire alarm. Upon arrival, firefighters with the Cortez Fire Protection District inspected the building and reported no problems. “It went smoothly. We practice it once a month,” a teacher said.
