Cortez\u2019s Lamp Post Creative Learning Center is offering a variety of summer camps and events for children and adults this summer, ranging from theater performances to youth STEM projects and a quilting retreat.<\/p>\n

The second annual Kids Summer Theatre Camp will run July 6 to 18. Children aged 6 to 18 will prepare two Disney children\u2019s edition one-act musicals. The first is \u201c101 Dalmatians\u201d and the second is \u201cThe Jungle Book.\u201d The program includes both morning sessions from 9 a.m. to noon and afternoon sessions from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for parents and guardians to choose from. Campers will participate in workshops and activities leading to the performances at 7 p.m. Friday, July 17, and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 18. The cost of the camp is $250, with discounts available for multi-child households. Scholarships will be offered, and registration is available online.<\/p>\n

The center is also hosting Powerhouse STEM summer camps in June. Rising first through fourth graders can attend the Cardboard Carnival camp Monday through Friday, where participants will explore engineering concepts and build their own working carnival games.<\/p>\n

Rising fourth through eighth graders can join the Rocketry camp June 15-19. The focus during this camp is rockets and their history, as well as the physics and design. Campers will build and launch their own rockets. They will also develop plans for a mock rocket company. Both camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Lamp Post.<\/p>\n

The Dolores Mountain Quilters will hold their 250 Sewing Retreat June 25 to 27 at Lamp Post. Non-members pay $50 per day or $135 for all three days, and members pay $45 per day or $120 for all three days. The event includes light breakfast, snacks, lunch, block and technique demonstrations, games, door prizes and \u201cgoodie bags.\u201d Massages will be available June 25and 26 for $20.
