A Shiprock man has been charged with murder in connection to a July 31 stabbing in Shiprock.<\/p>\n
Kirtie Cohoe, 46, made an initial appearance Aug. 3 in federal court in Albuquerque. He is accused of killing a man at home in Shiprock.<\/p>\n
According to the criminal complaint, Cohoe was staying at the home of a relative in Shiprock, when on the morning of July 31, the male victim arrived home for a cookout. Cohoe, his relative and the victim began drinking. Then, an hour later the unidentified relative was outside, Cohoe reportedly stabbed the male victim inside the home.<\/p>\n
When the relative entered the home, they found the victim stabbed multiple times and lying under a table, according to a social media post from Navajo Police.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen his relative asked Cohoe what happened, Cohoe allegedly responded, \u2018I don\u2019t know. He was talking (expletive).\u2019 Cohoe then departed the house on foot, allegedly taking the weapon with him,\u201d according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Navajo Police arrived on scene and found the man dead. They later found Cohoe, who was reportedly hiding a wooded area near the home.<\/p>\n
\u201cCohoe had blood on his shirt and shoes and the weapon was found nearby, next to Cohoe\u2019s wallet,\u201d according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
This case was investigated by the Farmington Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the Navajo Police Department.<\/p>\n
Assistant U.S. Attorney Meg Tomlinson is prosecuting the case.<\/p>\n
