He was charged with a misdemeanor DWI, a misdemeanor resisting, evading or obstructing an office and a petty misdemeanor concealing identity. Gonnie also was cited for reckless driving.<\/p>\n<p>Farmington Police were called to the lake at 3:28 p.m. July 3 by a park ranger in need of assistance. The ranger was signaled by lake goers regarding Gonnie, whom they believed \u201cwas intoxicated\u201d and possibly in need of help, according to the statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>The ranger told police when she approached Gonnie he \u201cbegan to yell and curse at her,\u201d and then reportedly loaded three children into a car and attempted to drive away, according to the statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>Gonnie allegedly \u201cwas driving fast, so fast that she was unable to keep sight of him,\u201d before he crashed his Chevrolet Malibu by going over a \u201c2-foot-tall berm of sand,\u201d running into \u201cthe fencing that surrounds the lake\u201d and hitting a large wooden post knocking it over, according to the statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>Gonnie then allegedly got out of the car and began arguing with two other people, who followed him, because they told police they were \u201cconcerned for the welfare and safety of his children,\u201d court records state.<\/p>\n<p>A woman did manage to get the children out of the car, \u201cbecause she was scared they were injured,\u201d she told police, who then spoke with the children identified as Gonnie\u2019s 10-year-old son, 5-year-old daughter and 5-year-old niece, according to the statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were very distraught and scared, all of them were crying,\u201d police state in their report, and the boy reportedly told police, \u201cHe knew his father was drinking, and that he shouldn\u2019t have been.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report does not state what happened to the children.<\/p>\n<p>When police attempted to make contact with Gonnie, he reportedly \u201cpushed (the officer) with both hands on (his) chest,\u201d and allegedly resisted arrest, according to the statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>The officer stated he managed to handcuff Gonnie, but the man reportedly continued to struggle attempting to \u201cpush\u201d the officer away with his shoulder before he was secured in the police vehicle and taken to the San Juan County Detention Center, according to the statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>However once there, police said in the probable cause statement that Gonnie \u201cproceeded to ram\u201d the officer with his shoulder in an attempt to knock the officer over, and then, refused to take a Breathalyzer test.<\/p>\n<p>Farmington Police secured a warrant for a blood alcohol test and had Gonnie\u2019s blood drawn at San Juan Regional Medical Center before returning him to the detention center, where he was booked on the charges and then, released on July 5 by Magistrate Russel Bradford.<\/p>\n<p>His preliminary hearing is set at 8:30 a.m. July 11 in Magistrate Court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Man reportedly drove intoxicated at Farmington Lake <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":26774,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[28],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-26773","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-headlines"],"acf":[],"author_name":"Website Administrator","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26773","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=26773"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26773\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":79473,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26773\/revisions\/79473"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/26774"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=26773"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=26773"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=26773"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=26773"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
