He was booked into the San Juan County Detention Center, where he was being held on a $390 bond.<\/p>\n<p>The charges are in connection to a Feb. 16 incident in which Williams reportedly walked through Target with a 14-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, filling up two carts with more than $600 in household and cleaning merchandise.<\/p>\n<p>Williams was captured on surveillance video and was seen \u201cfleeing the store using the entrance door.\u201d The video reportedly also captured armed with a handgun in a holster on his right hip, according to the arrest affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>He reportedly passed all cash registers, and left the store \u201cfailing to pay for the items in his cart,\u201d according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>Police also reported that Williams and his daughter walked out of the store together. the son was observed driving a red Dodge SUV, in which the merchandise was loaded.<\/p>\n<p>Farmington Police posted still pictures of Williams and the children on the department\u2019s Facebook page, from which they received a tip.<\/p>\n<p>Celestina Williams reportedly called dispatch and identified Williams as her husband and the juveniles are her children.<\/p>\n<p>When police contacted Celestina Williams she let them speak to James Williams, who reportedly \u201csaid the allegations were true, and he did steal from the store,\u201d the affidavit for arrest warrant states.<\/p>\n<p>Williams reportedly told police he loaded up the carts and then, realized \u201che did not have enough money to pay for them,\u201d having only $100, so he \u201cmade the decision to leave the store with the cart full of items,\u201d according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>Williams also allegedly \u201coffered to pay for the items,\u201d after speaking with police, the affidavit for arrest warrant states.<\/p>\n<p>According to court records, this is Williams first criminal charge, as he only has traffic violations.<\/p>\n<p>A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. March 6 in Magistrate Mark Hawkinson\u2019s court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Man arrested for reportedly taking $600 in merchandise<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":29105,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[28],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-29104","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-headlines"],"acf":[],"author_name":"Website Administrator","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/29104","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=29104"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/29104\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":80631,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/29104\/revisions\/80631"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/29105"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=29104"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=29104"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=29104"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=29104"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
