Best bets this weekend include Freedom Days, the River Parade and the Powerhouse reopening celebration.
The Freedom Days fireworks display and parade will take place Friday and Saturday in Farmington. Event organizers and city officials collaborated to offer a safe celebration of community, patriotism and family.
The fireworks display will begin at 9:25 p.m. Friday at Sullivan Hill with a simulcast on KWYK 94.9-FM. San Juan College campus will not be open for parking during the display.
The Farmington Rotary Electric Light Parade will take place at 9 p.m. Saturday at SJC. The parade will be a drive-by event. All parade participants will line up along the annual luminarias route at SJC.
Spectators will drive by and see the participants’ displays, entering from Butler Avenue and exiting at College Boulevard, where traffic will be required to turn south to 30th Street.

Mild to Wild’s Fourth of July Rafting Parade will flow through Durango on Saturday on the Animas River with five meet times to choose from: 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 pm.
Seats are limited. Kids will receive a Fourth of July souvenir. Participants are encouraged to dress up in Fourth of July attire. Best costume will win a prize.

Powerhouse Science Center will celebrate its reopening from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the powerhouse.
Enjoy aerial performers, lawn games, free treats for children, the Deconstruction Zone, gardening activities and information about memberships, Camp Discovery and upcoming programming.
Guests are encouraged to wear a mask and join the celebration.
