50 years ago: An investigation resulted in a joy-riding conviction of three youths in La Plata County Court, according to a report by the District Attorney’s Office. The incident involved a 1966 pickup that was stolen from a Hesperus resident’s property and found shortly afterward several miles south “on the road to New Mexico.”
25 years ago: A one-car rollover crash occurred on Highway 172 about nine miles outside the Durango city limits. The crash inflicted minor injuries on the driver and front-seat passenger. A 2-year-old girl, who was sitting in a child-restraint seat, escaped the crash unscathed.
