Chimney Rock National Monument, located at 3179 Highway 151 east of Durango, will open for the 2017 season on Monday, May 15.
Guided walking tours will be available at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. They involve a 2.5-hour hike along the ridge top to several Puebloan archaeological sites that date from 950 to 1125 A.D.
The audio kiva tour will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and provides recorded commentary with information about the structures and people who lived on site.
Tours are first-come, first-served and cost $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12 and are free for children younger than 5.
