Allen Farnsworth, a volunteer wildland fire specialist with the Durango Fire Protection District, monitors a controlled burn the agency conducted Tuesday on the grounds of Hillcrest Golf Course. Slash piles of debris from course maintenance were burned. Durango Fire & Rescue Authority officially became Durango Fire Protection District today.
