I read the story (Herald, Dec. 21) about the Bureau of Land Management report on environmental concerns at Lake Nighthorse. BLM mouthpiece Justyn Liff made such a stupid statement that I must protest.
If people’s comments that they do not want gasoline, oil, wake erosion and noise pollution at the lake are not environmental concerns, then the BLM does not know what the environment is.
Blatantly ignoring people’s environmental concerns in an environmental assessment process is arrogantly irresponsible and represents management malfeasance.
If the people do not want motorized vessels on the reservoir, then we should not be forced to have them, even though the sheriff has already run his motorized, sea-going rigid inflatable on those pristine waters we don’t have to put up with it.
We want a clean, quiet lake and that’s what we’re going to have.
BLM recommendations and special interests can take a running jump. Keep Nighthorse peaceful and clean, its going to be our drinking water.
