Hurray for Housing Solutions. Opening the Espero Apartments won’t solve all the problems of affordable housing in Durango, but it shows that when people work together, solutions are possible. I had to chuckle at Elizabeth Salkind’s quote about those 3 a.m. dreams and just “how many moving parts and pieces it took to make this happen.” Just putting the financing together is complicated, and that is just one of those moving parts. Thank you to Elizabeth and staff for showing us the way to make Durango the community it is, and also to those in leadership positions – both city and county – for taking the political risk to turn a 3 a.m. dream into a reality for our community.
