The Durango Winter Sports Club sent athletes to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association Southern Series of the Rocky Mountain division race last weekend at Arizona Snowbowl for two days of steep alpine slalom racing.
DWSC, including male and female athletes from U8-U16, earned many podiums and top-10 finishes at the event.
“The camaraderie and support of our athletes and parents is amazing,” said Heather Feistner, board member and parent. “We show up for each other when we win, when we fall, when we have a good run or a bad run. The cowbells ring loud for our DWSC team!”
The athletes and coaches will look to continue their momentum at upcoming races in Breckenridge, Vail, Telluride, Powderhorn and eventually Purgatory Resort, where the closing race of the Southern Series will be held on March 23-26.
