Proud to serve, proud to give: Why Round Up matters

I’m proud to serve as a volunteer board member of the LPEA Round Up Foundation, an independent, member-led nonprofit. Our mission is to strengthen local communities using funds from LPEA members who voluntarily round up their electric bills and from unclaimed capital credits – not from LPEA electric rates.

The Round Up Foundation is not a political organization; it’s a charitable one. We fund food security, youth programs, health care, education, and family emergency assistance. Since 1996, we’ve awarded more than $1.5 million in grants, including $89,890 to 33 nonprofits in the first half of 2025 alone.

Every grant is publicly posted on LPEA’s website, including our recent July 8 update. San Juan Citizens Alliance has never received funding (Letters, Herald, July 23)

Small contributions make a big difference. If you’re not already rounding up your bill, please consider joining us to support programs that make life better here at home.
