Air Force Academy Winds performing Thursday

Academy Winds, part of the U.S. Air Force Academy Band, performs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Roshong Recital Hall at Fort Lewis College in Durango.

The United States Air Force Academy Band's Academy Winds will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25 at Roshong Recital Hall at Fort Lewis College.

The sextet is comprised of instrumentalists from every section of the Concert Band to include woodwinds, double reeds, brass, percussion and vocals. The result is an eclectic performance sure to please every audience member. Drawing on fresh, dynamic arrangements, the group presents a wide variety of musical styles, including Renaissance music, symphonic favorites, traditional jazz or even the latest pop chart.

Members are Technical Sgt. Julia C. Taylor on flute, Airman 1st Class Katherine E. Stites on oboe, Master Sgt. Susan Govier on B flat clarinet, Master Sgt. Alejandro Vieira on bassoon and Senior Airman Matthew J. Levine, percussion.
