John Wimberley, a self-taught photographer known for his ethereal black and white images, is the subject of documentary that will premiere at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Open Shutter Gallery, 735 Main Ave. “John Wimberley – A Metaphysic of Light” looks at the career and work of the photographer, whose images – such as this one, “Descending Angel” – are marked by their tonality, sharpness and visual poetry. The film will be followed by a discussion. The event is free, but seating is limited. For more information, call 946-6994.
