An exhibit of abstract paintings by Durango artist Marikay Shellman will kick off the Pine River Valley Bank’s 2015 community artist program. Shellman explores the similarities between abstract art and jazz syncopation through painting, finding inspiration through an improvisational process of responding to color, lines and rhythm. The exhibit, “Bring in the New Year: Big Bang Theory,” which features paintings such as this one, will be up through Jan. 30 at 1701 Main Ave.
