Caitlyn Espinosa makes Fort Lewis College history

FLC goalkeeper sets career shutout record

It was another high-scoring night for the Skyhawks.

The Fort Lewis College women’s soccer team earned a 3-0 win at Colorado State University-Pueblo on Friday night in the first game of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season.

The Skyhawks (3-1-1, 1-0 RMAC) received goals from Jordan Hix and Alicia Sanchez in the second half after Shayla Malecki put FLC ahead of the ThunderWolves (2-2, 0-1 RMAC) in the first half. Sanchez scored from 30 yards out, while Hix beat a defender and the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation. Malecki bounced her shot off the keeper and inside the far post.

Fort Lewis goalkeeper Caitlyn Espinosa set the career shutout record for the Skyhawks with her 24th clean sheet. She made four saves in the match.

FLC will return to the pitch at 1 p.m. Sunday at New Mexico Highlands.
