A clothing and home goods shop has opened on East Main Street in Cortez and aims to offer shoppers more retail choice.

The space formerly home to ImageNet Consulting was remodeled into a more open space to display makeup, purses, backpacks, shoes and women’s clothing.

EST Fashion and Crafts also will sell home and garden goods imported from Guadalajara, Mexico, owner Esmeralda Estrada said.

Estrada is still filling up the shop with products, and the reception from the community has been warm, she said.

Many people have told her: “We need something like this,” she said.

Estrada said she is trying to offer an alternative to cowboy-themed entire offered at other shops in town and focus more on trending fashion.

She drew, in part, on the tastes of her daughters to help stock the store, with products for young women, including accessories from Forever 21 and makeup from Maybelline and L’Oréal.

In the next two weeks, Estrada is expecting paintings, garden sculptures and other crafts from Mexico, she said.

Estrada, originally from Guadalajara, still has family in the city who are helping her organize imports.

Estrada is a 20-year resident of the area and worked in retail before as a partner in A Little Bit of Heaven, a now shuttered Cortez shop. She also owns Casa Cleaning, a cleaning service.

The mother of five children, Estrada said she wanted to open the new shop now because the space on Main Street came available and she is taking a break from her cleaning business.

“I need to keep my hands busy,” she said.
