Movoto Real Estate Blog has named Durango the fifth-sexiest city in Colorado.

Golden, Boulder, Grand Junction and Denver are sexier, according to Movoto.

In a post explaining its analysis, the real estate blog said, “We started this sexy science by gathering up a list of the 50 largest places in Colorado. Then, using business listings and Areavibes’ weather data, we looked at each place in terms of the following”:

“Nightlife per capita (bars, clubs, comedy, etc.).

Lingerie stores per capita.

Adult stores per capita (novelties, videos, etc.).

Adult entertainment per capita (strip clubs, burlesque, use your imagination...).

Massage parlors per capita.

Hotels per capita.

Average summer temperature (the hotter = the fewer clothes = the better).”

Movoto writes that Durango’s mild summer temperatures – which necessitate that residents wear mood-killing clothing – somewhat depress its allure. But in winter, it writes, “You can bounce from bar to bar, depending on how that goes, head to a hotel (check out the Strater), and depending on how that goes, maybe make a run to one of the many adult stores. It ranked first in all of these categories.”

There is some question about the rigor of Movoto’s methodology. For instance, the blog cautions readers that there are further Durango-based options for sexiness. “If this night sounds a little too seedy for you, you can also feel free to class it up in Durango, where there were the fourth most massage parlors and lingerie stores per capita in the state.”

Unless one counts Durango’s marijuana shops as “adult stores,” according to Directory Plus phonebook, there is one “adult novelty” store in Durango – Eagle Claw Adult Gift Store – and two lingerie stores, Fallen Angel and Merle Norman Cosmetics.

While the phonebook lists many Durango-based masseurs, there is no listing for “massage parlors.”
