The Fort Lewis College soccer teams couldn’t get the job done on Sunday.

The men settled for a 1-1 draw against Metropolitan State University of Denver at Dirks Field, while the women lost 2-1 at Regis University.

The men are now 9-3-3 overall, 5-1-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The women fell to 7-3-5 overall, 3-3-3 in the RMAC.

The men’s senior day match was scoreless in the first half, as the Skyhawks didn’t get a single shot off.

MSU Denver got on the board first with a goal by Noah Hannula in the 47th minute. Fort Lewis quickly responded with a goal by senior midfielder Aymaro Vargas, assisted by freshman forward Anton Hjalmarsson, in the 60th minute.

Fort Lewis outshot MSU Denver 6-4 in the second half, but couldn’t find the game-winning goal. Skyhawks freshman goalkeeper Lucas Martin had two saves on the afternoon.

Senior midfielder McKenna Ford scored her first goal of the season in lightening quick fashion for the Fort Lewis women. Ford scored 41 seconds into regulation to put the Skyhawks up 1-0, a lead they kept at halftime.

However, Regis found the necessary space to score in the second half. Kelby Kuo and Jillian Skurcenski scored in the 45th and 47th minutes, respectively, to put Regis ahead en route to victory.

Fort Lewis outshot Regis 19-1. The Skyhawks also had 10 corner kicks compared to the Rangers’ two.

Fort Lewis senior goalkeeper Riley Bravin had two saves, while senior goalkeeper Katlyn Rosenbaum had four saves for the Skyhawks.
