The Skyhawks’ women’s soccer team survived an onslaught of shots and tied No. 16 Colorado School of Mines 0-0. The Orediggers outshot Fort Lewis 27-5 on Thursday night. The Skyhawks increased their unbeaten streak to 10 games, the second-longest unbeaten streak in program history.

With the tie, Fort Lewis moved to 5-0-5 overall and 1-0-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Colorado School of Mines moved to 6-2-3 overall and 2-1-2 in RMAC play.

Although the shot differential was high, CSU only had five shots on goal compared to three shots on goal for the Skyhawks. Fort Lewis has only allowed one goal in its last six games.

Senior goalkeeper Riley Bravin had two saves and senior goalkeeper Katlyn Rosenbaum had three saves as well for the Skyhawks.

Men’s soccer:

Scoring started early for Fort Lewis. Junior defender Jakob Larson put a header into the goal off a corner kick 1:59 into the match to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead. It was Larson’s first goal of the season.

Further into the half, Fort Lewis increased its lead with a goal from sophomore midfielder David Citron. Sophomore defender Kaden Schufft played a great ball into the box and Citron put it in from around the penalty area to put the Skyhawks up 2-0, 29:09 into the match.

After trailing 2-0 at half, the Hardrockers responded with a goal in the 62nd minute by Zach Peroff to make it 2-1.

Anton Hjalmarsson then put Fort Lewis on his back to finish the game. The freshman forward from Sweden took the South Dakota Mines’ defense on by himself and scored in the 80th minute.

A few minutes later, Hjalmarsson assisted freshman forward Emmett Layman 84:21 into the game to seal the victory 4-1.

The Skyhawks are tied for third in the RMAC and haven’t lost since Sept. 14.
