Fort Lewis women’s soccer team remains unbeaten

Skyhawks settle for draw against Adams State Grizzlies

Despite outshooting Adams State 19-3, Fort Lewis’ women’s soccer team only managed a 0-0 draw Sunday at Dirks Field.

It was the fourth tie of the season and fifth shutout for the Skyhawks, who are now 5-0-4 and 1-0-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Adams State is now 2-4-3 overall, 1-3-1 in RMAC play.

Fort Lewis missed a golden opportunity when Ashlyn Salas missed a penalty kick just 28 seconds into regulation. She was taken down inside the 18-yard box, but her penalty kick attempt hit the crossbar.

Aubrey Swindle led the Skyhawks with five shots on goal, while goalkeeper Katlyn Rosenbaum had two saves for Fort Lewis. Ashlyn Bartley had nine saves for Adams State.

Men’s soccer also settles for draw

The Fort Lewis men’s team also played at Dirks Field on Sunday, tying Colorado Christian 1-1.

The Skyhawks are now 5-2-2 overall, 1-0-1 in RMAC play. The Cougars are now 3-2-4 overall, 1-0-1 in RMAC play.

CCU outshot Fort Lewis 10-7. Skyhawks forward Tomas Duentes scored a free-kick in the first half to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead at halftime. It was Duentes’ third goal of the season.

In the second half, the Cougars responded with a goal off a corner kick by Caiden Dixon.

Fort Lewis had two shots on goal, while and CCU only had four. Skyhawks goalkeeper Lucas Martin had three saves, while CCU’s Michel Pinoncely had one save.
