Furita Monument girls lacrosse handles Durango

No. 9 Wildcats still to much for Demons

The Durango High School girls lacrosse team is in a funk.

DHS lost 15-6 to No. 9 Fruita Monument on Saturday in Durango, an improvement from the 17-2 loss Friday to Grand Junction.

Nicole Twardowski and Adrienne Chiapuzio both scored four goals each for the Wildcats.

Fruita Monument (10-1, 4-0 Mountain League) led 8-2 at the half.

DHS (2-3, 1-3 ML) fired 10 shots on goal, and Fruita Monument goalie Lynzie Kytle made four saves.

The Demons only won eight of 23 faceoffs.

DHS next will play Summit at 11 a.m. Saturday at home.
