Lauren Milliet scores in first Colorado College game

DHS grad finds a winner for Colorado College
Milliet

Lauren Milliet knows how to make an entrance.

The Durango High School graduate and freshman midfielder not only started in her debut for Colorado College on Friday night, she scored a game-winner for her first collegiate goal.

It came in the 71st minute on a pass from Sarah Schweiss, a senior.

The Tigers let nine shots fly and put five of those on frame.

Northern Colorado (0-1) had 11 shots and five on goal, but Colorado College sophomore keeper Louisa MacKenzie kept a clean sheet in her first collegiate start.

Milliet, daughter of Charlie and Janis Milliet, is the first Colorado College freshman to score a game-winner in her debut since 2010.

Milliet made her presence felt immediately with Colorado College this summer. She traveled with the team to South Korea to represent Team USA in the World University Games, and she scored the team’s only goal in a 1-0 win against South Africa in the tournament’s opening game.

Milliet and the Tigers will hit the road for their next game, an in-state showdown with Colorado-Boulder at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Boulder. The game is part of the Colorado Cup.
