Law enforcement identifies man who died south of Durango

Autopsy was performed Tuesday

A La Plata County man who died by suicide Sunday south of Durango was identified Tuesday as Talmage Dawson Neal, 35.

Neal was found about 6 p.m. at his home on County Road 218, said Sgt. Chris Burke, spokesman with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday in Durango.

La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith said the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Next of kin has been notified.
