Main Event sports bar owner throwing out the first pitch

The Main Event Sports Bar & Grill will be without its main man Saturday as owner Jeff Tipton heads up to Denver to throw out the first pitch as the Colorado Rockies take on the San Diego Padres.

It turns out it pays to serve Coors and Coors-related products, he said. Out of the 12 taps at the Main Event bar, eight are for MillerCoors products. A rep for the company saw that, and it bought Tipton a trip to the mound, a seat in the Coors box and a jersey, among other swag.

Tipton played softball in high school and college, so he’s comfortable on the diamond, he said. His position was catcher, so he’s used to throwing the other direction.

Tipton and his 17-year-old son, Ryan, have started the countdown to the big moment.

Game time is 6:10 p.m.

Strike!
