A meeting Wednesday night at the Durango High School library will discuss suicide in society, and how the community can come together to prevent it.

“It’s about working together with the community to look at the issue from a community perspective, and how we should be working together to prevent these kinds of issues in our region,” said Julie Popp, spokeswoman for Durango School District 9-R.

Among guest speakers are Judy Austin, a local social worker who is on 9-R’s grief-counseling team, and Jennifer Turner with La Plata Youth Services. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
