Photos: Another bend in the road

The city of Durango’s street painting efforts took an interesting turn this week in the west 100 block of 11th Street, where a road striping crew appears to have swerved abruptly before correcting course. The city posted a photo of the centerline deviation to its Instagram page, but offered no middle-of-the-road explanation. Instead, the post leaves it up to speculation: “Take a guess as to what the driver was avoiding. Cat? Dog? Tourist? Super long Ford F-950 with dualies and an extended bed?” City spokesman Tom Sluis offered one more angle: “Our working theory is someone from the county jump-scared the driver from the side of the road, but we have not been able to confirm or deny this possibility.” On a straighter note, Sluis said the city plans to fix the double-yellow lines as soon as possible. As for us, we’re lovin’ these golden arches. (Shane Benjamin/Durango Herald)
