Sheriff’s office investigating homicide at Lightner Creek Mobile Home Park

Suspects at-large, considered armed and dangerous
La Plata County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting Sunday at Lightner Creek Mobile Home Park as a homicide.

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office is searching for three suspects considered armed and dangerous that fled the scene of a fatal shooting at about 1:15 p.m. Sunday at Lightner Creek Mobile Home Park just west of Durango.

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting as a homicide, which occurred at Unit 36, said investigator Peter Berryhill.

Berryhill said one male victim, who has not yet been identified, died of an apparent gunshot wound from a semi-automatic handgun. Police said the victim was likely a friend of the person who owns the mobile home unit.

The suspects fled in a black Chevrolet Impala with Texas license plates in an unknown direction. As of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, they had not been located.

There are two black men and one white woman in the vehicle, authorities said.

Berryhill identified one of the suspects as Kevin Geoff, possibly of Texas with gang ties. None of the other suspects had been identified. The female is listed as having faded pink hair.

The license plate numbers may contain “29CQ2,” “CQ24” or “CRL251.”

If the vehicle is spotted, call 911 and do not make contact with the vehicle.

To report other information related to the crime, call Berryhill at (970) 903-1249.
