Sunny skies expected Saturday for cyclists riding from Durango to Silverton

Slight chance for rain forecast on Memorial Day
Cyclists can expect mostly sunny skies Saturday for the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic.

Good news: The chance of snow blowing in and canceling everyone’s ride to Silverton on Saturday is virtually zero.

The National Weather Service expects mostly sunny skies during the day Saturday in Durango and mostly sunny skies with a 20% chance of thunderstorms in Silverton on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday’s high in Durango is expected to be 82 with a high of 69 in Silverton.

On Sunday, mostly cloudy skies are expected in Durango with a 20% chance of thunderstorms between noon and 3 p.m.

In Silverton, Sunday’s weather is a bit more shaky.

The Weather Service expects a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon and that will build to a 50% chance of showers during the evening and the night. Sunday’s high in Silverton is expected to be 66.

On Memorial Day, Durango has a slight chance of showers from noon to midnight. The high is expected to hit 75.

In Silverton, showers are likely after noon on Memorial Day with a high of 61.
