As the holiday season approaches, the Durango Arts Center is the perfect place to find unique gifts while supporting our vibrant local arts community.
With the Artisans Market and Gift Gallery open throughout the season, visitors can explore dozens of local artists showcasing their incredible handmade creations. From stunning jewelry and pottery to one-of-a-kind ceramics, paintings and textiles, the DAC offers a wide range of gifts for everyone on your list. Every purchase directly supports local artists and makers, ensuring that your holiday shopping not only brings joy to your loved ones but also to our community.
Mark your calendars for Noel Night on Friday. This annual event is a wonderful opportunity to explore the DAC and enjoy an evening of festive fun. Stop by to spin our prize wheel – every spin is a win. Prizes include free classes, discounts, tickets, merchandise and much more. It’s a great chance to get in the holiday spirit while giving back to the creative community that makes Durango so special.
But that’s not all: December at the DAC is packed with exciting theater events. If you’re a fan of improv, don’t miss the Lower Left Improv Student Showcase on Friday and the Holiday Sketch Show on Dec. 20, sure to be a hilarious way to celebrate the season. For those who enjoy storytelling, The Raven Narratives on Saturday will captivate with powerful, personal stories shared by local voices.
The DAC is also proud to present The Durango Youth Theatre’s annual holiday double feature “Under the Sea & A Million Dreams” by Anita Burleson, taking the stage from Dec. 13 to 15. These young performers bring their passion and talent to the stage in these two shows full of music you already love woven around brand new and exciting stories.
And, of course, those looking to explore their own creative side, registration is open for our robust lineup of art and theater classes, perfect for anyone looking to start the new year with a creative outlet.
As we reflect on the year, we’re reminded of how important the community’s support is to the success of the arts in Durango. The DAC is fortunate to be a hub for artists, performers and creative individuals, but we couldn’t do it without the generosity of our patrons. This holiday season, consider making a donation to the DAC or volunteering your time to help support the arts. Your contributions make a real difference in keeping the arts alive in the Four Corners. Visit the DAC or Durangoarts.org anytime to learn more about how you can help ensure a thriving, creative community for years to come.
Happy holidays from the Durango Arts Center – where creativity, community and culture come together!
