It's time to get rid of flashing yellow turn signals on U.S. Highway 160

One more dead, one more critically injured and countless lives changed.

I believe CDOT's "flashing yellow arrow experiment" has proven it is not safe. It is confusing and distracting and it is too difficult to see oncoming traffic when there are cars in both opposing turn lanes. Please go back to left turn on green arrow only. Yes, it may slow things down a bit, but isn't it worth it?

I also wish people would realize that the few extra seconds you think you are saving by driving too fast, tailgating, passing on the shoulder and weaving in and out of traffic not only make little difference in your arrival time, they are illegal and could be deadly.

Everyone needs to take driving seriously. Unfortunately, tragic accidents like the recent one locally are going to happen. It takes only a split second to make a wrong move. Some, however, could be avoided with smarter traffic control and common sense when driving down the highway at 55-plus miles an hour. Think about it.
