Anthony Madrid, Jicarilla District Ranger for the Carson National Forest in New Mexico, is supposed to arrive April 7 to serve as acting Columbine District Ranger until summer.
He will fill in while Matt Janowiak is in California serving as acting deputy forest supervisor for the Las Padres National Forest.
Madrid began his Forest Service career in 1999 on a Santa Fe National Forest engine crew. He went on to work as a soil conservationist for the National Resource Conservation Service and as a range management specialist on the Lincoln National Forest.
He moved to the Carson National Forest in 2007, first as range staff, and then in 2011 as Canjilon District Ranger. Since 2012 he has been Jicarilla District Ranger, managing a unit that includes complex range and oil and gas programs, as well as the Jicarilla Wild Horse Territory.
