Buescher emerges from the fog to win at Pocono

LONG POND, Pa. – Chris Buescher waited out a foul-weathered end on pit road to become a stunning winner in Monday’s Sprint Cup race at Pocono Raceway.

Buescher, who drives for underfunded Front Row Motorsports and hadn’t finished better than 14th all season, was the beneficiary of bad weather on a rare Monday race that had been postponed a day by rain.

Buescher will need to find a way to wrangle a spot in the top 30 over the final five races before the Chase for the Championship field is set.

Solo says Brazil is fine, complains of US media

BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil – Hope Solo is blaming the American media for spreading fear about the Zika virus and other problems ahead of the Rio Games.

“We haven’t made it to Rio yet and I have no idea what to expect in Rio, but it’s been beautiful here,” Solo said ahead of Wednesday’s opener against New Zealand.

Solo, in her third Olympics, said it seemed problems in Brazil were being blown out of proportion by media in the U.S. She said she expects “everything to be fine” by the time the team gets to Rio despite the widespread concerns related to the games, including Zika, water pollution, security and shoddy construction.
