Permit me to tell you about what qualifies Brie Stahnke as the best candidate for the 9-R school board. Brie attended public schools in Fairbanks, Alaska, where she got the foundation necessary to pursue a degree in engineering.
She understands firsthand why the achievement gap needs to be narrowed and why a STEM-based curriculum emphasizing strong science, technology, engineering and math remains critical not just for women, but for all who are educated in 9-R schools.
More important, she’s the mother of two young children who will soon attend these schools. She’s invested in this community. She understands the connection between business and education and the competitive advantage a solid education will provide. She recognizes that parental input can help shape the best education for every child because education is not a one-size-fits-all model.
