Letters: Please talk with Marsha Porter-Norton

I support Marsha Porter-Norton’s candidacy for the Board of County Commissioners.

Although commissioners represent individual districts, in this case the city of Durango, they serve the entire county. Marsha Porter-Norton is exceptionally well-qualified to do this. She has extensive experience as a facilitator, which makes her uniquely qualified to listen and understand citizen concerns from every part of the county. Her expertise was critical to the success of the very long process to develop a consensus proposal for management of the Hermosa Creek watershed. The local stakeholder agreement was essential in securing bipartisan support in a divided Congress.

Marsha is a native of Montezuma County, giving her a deep connection to the land and its people. She is conducting extensive outreach to her projected constituents, with listening sessions across the county to understand our diverse perspectives, including around the challenging issue of land use.

Please take the opportunity to talk with Marsha Porter-Norton to express your concerns. After you do, I hope you will join me in supporting her campaign.
