I’ve been wondering how many unaffiliated Coloradans realize that they will be left out of presidential primary voting if they don’t (at least temporarily) join one of the major parties. We all have strong preferences among the presidential candidates, but since the parties run the caucus process in Colorado, only voters affiliated with the Republican or Democratic parties by Jan. 1 will be allowed to participate in the selection.
It’s very easy to change your registration through www.govotecolorado.com. Just find your registration, then select “Change Party Affiliation.” You can change back to unaffiliated after the caucuses if you want!
Thanks to The Durango Herald for the Oct. 19 story, “New voters reluctant to pick a party.” We’ll hope to see good information from the Herald about the caucus process as March 1 gets closer.
