I love my newspaper and I need it

Thank you for the editorial in today’s Herald (July 22). The importance of a small town’s newspaper is one way for the citizens to actually know what is happening that concerns their lives. I am familiar with the town mentioned in the editorial and what actually happened there. It was criminal what their town council had voted on and the corruption that was allowed. We are so fortunate here in Durango to have the Herald, the reporting, the editor, updates of the fires, the photographs by Jerry McBride that keep us informed everyday.

I know people do not agree on a lot of issues brought up, however, the Herald does print both conservative and liberal columns and we enjoy reading of both sides of an issue. This is what a newspaper is about. To get angry and stop delivery is a childish option. Better to not know each side? I think not.

Personally, I want to know what my opponent is thinking. Who knows, perhaps I could see their side of an issue. Just keep up the good work – I need my newspaper!
