Telecommunication project approved as Enterprise Zone Contribution

The regional, Southwest Colorado Council of Government Telecommunication Infrastructure Project was approved June 15 as an Enterprise Zone Contribution Project by the State Economic Development Commission.

The designation allows donors of $250 or more to be eligible for a 25-percent state tax credit, and a 12.5-percent state tax credit on in-kind donations to the project, such as “right-of-way access.”

The project will develop middle-mile broadband infrastructure to connect La Plata, Montezuma, Archuleta, Dolores and San Juan counties. The estimated cost is $55-$60 million for 325 new miles.
