I was undecided in the race for La Plata County Treasurer but hearing about candidates in both the Durango and Bayfield League of Women Voters forums, Colton Black is the clear choice.
Allison Aichele recited the laws that pertain to the treasurer’s job. However, I got the impression Black has a better understanding of what they actually mean in the real world, which is significantly more important.
Aichele failed to convince that the issues identified in the past two audits are being corrected, stating she expects the material weakness findings to continue. Restating her credentials and past job history over and over doesn’t equate to a plan for fixing deficiencies.
Black has impressive credentials and outlined a much clearer plan to utilize knowledge of best practices in the industry to adopt processes and find solutions to correct the problems! Black did a great job of articulating his vision in other areas he believes costs can be reduced and efficiency improved in the treasurer’s office.
Based on the continued poor job performance by Aichele that has been reported, I see no reason to retain her as treasurer. Vote Colton Black for La Plata County treasurer.
