I have been a patient in the Veterans Administration health-care system for many years and, with one minor exception, found the VA to be extremely caring, efficient and effective. Wait times for appointments are generally shorter than times required by my non-VA primary care physician.
I suspect the current, highly publicized problems are a result of deep funding cuts, coupled with a great increase in demand.
You can stretch an organization until it snaps.
