Be FRANK fundraiser is tomorrow
The Frank N' Stein fundraiser for Be FRANK will be held tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bottom Shelf Brewery on Mill Street in Bayfield. Adults will get a glass stein and two beers with their $20 admission. Halloween costumes are encouraged. There will be kids' games, costume contests, and performances by school music groups and local bands. There is no charge for children who attend the event with their parents.
The Be FRANK Foundation was started last year by Bayfield School District music teacher Lech Usinowicz (Mr. U) and parents to raise money for expanded music and athletic opportunities for district students.
Bar D concert to benefit BMS student
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Friends of Rachel at Bayfield High School are sponsoring a benefit concert and silent auction for Aria Crane.
The Bar D Wranglers will play, and tickets are $10. The event is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18. Donations for the silent auction can be dropped of at the BHS office. Crane is being treated for lymphoma at Children's Hospital in Denver. Proceeds will help her family with travel and living expenses. For more information, call 884-9521.
Introduction to time banking Nov. 5
An introduction to time banking with Hour Exchange La Plata (HELP) will be presented on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, E. Third Avenue at 9th Street in Durango. There will be a potluck after the presentation.

Ignacio schools honoring veterans
On Nov. 11, the High Expectations Committee of Ignacio School District will host a Veterans Dinner and Concert to honor area veterans. Dinner is free, but participants are asked to RSVP to 563-0500, or email sarmstrong@ignacio.k12.co.us so there is enough food. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Ignacio Middle School at 222 CR 320. The deadline to RSVP is Nov. 7. Ignacio schools also will participate in the GI Go Fund's "Jeans for Troops" fundraising drive. This will benefit returning military veterans to find employment, go to college, and access their health and financial benefits. On Nov. 12, employees of the district can pay $5 to wear jeans to work and students can pay $1 to wear hats to school, with proceeds benefiting the GI Go Fund.
Craft fair is Nov. 8 at Senior Center
The Pine River Seniors' annual arts and crafts fair fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Senior Center in Bayfield. The event will include concessions and a bake sale plus a silent auction with a wide range of goods and services donated by area businesses and individuals.

Vets' Stand Down is Nov. 15 at fairgrounds
The Four Corners Stand Down for Veterans will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the La Plata County Fairgrounds in Durango.
The event will provide a wide variety of free services to military veterans, including help with VA benefits and services, military records, housing, jobs, income taxes, hot meals, showers, haircuts, clothing, hygiene supplies, resources for homeless veterans, legal assistance, and medical help.

Snowdown Follies holding idea session
The 2015 Steampunk Snowdown Follies, a show performed and produced for the past 32 years by local, volunteer talent is beginning to organize. A follies brainstorming session will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Durango Elks Lodge, 901 East Second Avenue. For those who have always wanted to be a part of the Snowdown Follies, have an idea for an act or want to float an act idea, all are welcome at this jovial gathering. Snacks and a cash bar will be provided.
