75 years ago: Ralph Cloud, 44-year-old policeman at the Consolidated Ute agency in Ignacio, “drove his auto up a 10-foot bank” and was unable to avoid a collision with a vehicle, driven by J.L. Ray of Durango, which was coming at him in the wrong lane.
50 years ago: Funeral services were scheduled and announced for Fay E. Jones, 66, former publisher of The Ignacio Chieftain, after she died Jan. 24, 1968.
25 years ago: “Much to the joy of students,” Fort Lewis College administrators decided to let individual departments decide the best way to make up four academic days, which were canceled after structural damage of two large campus buildings in mid-January.
