Durango Friends of the Arts would like to thank Toh-Atin Gallery in Durango for hosting the Nov. 14 membership meeting.
After a short business meeting, DFA members enjoyed a riveting musical performance by flutist Kathryn Shaffer and her two children, Daniel Shaffer (age 16), who plays the violin, and Johanna Shaffer (age 8), who plays cello.
Both young musicians have been playing from the age of 4, and the audience was stunned by their accomplished performances. Both children are participants in the San Juan Symphony Youth Orchestra, which has received grants from the Durango Friends of the Arts in the past.
