My wife and I got our federal payments today, and I feel a little guilty about it.
I’m still working, so we have not been hurt financially by the COVID-19 pandemic, but I know many of our community members are suffering. So I’m going to ask everyone who is not seriously hurt financially by this emergency to commit to help those of our neighbors who need it.
I’m going to send a chunk of my $1,200 to the Community Emergency Relief Fund, and I’m going to set the rest aside to spend at locally owned businesses when they can open. You may decide to contribute to another fund or directly to someone who needs it, but please, be kind to those who need help.
It will help Durango stay the kind of community we want it to be.
